The TRANS-SAFE Project in Kumasi, Ghana, aims to enhance road safety through a series of targeted demonstration actions. Key initiatives include implementing low-cost interventions such as speed bumps, tabletop crossings, and rumble strips in areas identified as high-risk through road user mapping and police data. Additionally, the project plans to develop a digital user safety map for major corridors like Sunyani Road and Accra to Kumasi Road, providing real-time traffic information to road users and supporting evidence-based interventions. Collaborations with local stakeholders, including the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED), are central to these efforts, ensuring community engagement and capacity building. Through these measures, the project seeks to reduce traffic fatalities and improve overall road safety in Kumasi.
