Trainings in Accra
Kick-off Meeting and General Training – Ghana | May 2024
In May 2024, the BOOST Project officially launched its activities in Ghana with a dynamic kick-off training workshop designed to introduce university students to the fundamentals of sustainable transport and the growing field of electric mobility. Out of 148 applicants, 52 promising students were selected to participate in this targeted training program.
The workshop featured expert-led sessions on e-mobility concepts, sustainable transport solutions, and future career pathways in the green mobility sector. Engaging brainstorming sessions allowed participants to collaboratively design innovative responses to local mobility challenges. Proposals ranged from integrated EV mechanic training programs to strategies for deploying charging infrastructure across urban and peri-urban areas.
This initial training not only equipped students with foundational knowledge in e-mobility but also emphasized the sector’s potential for sustainable job creation. The enthusiasm and creativity of the participants underscored the transformative potential of youth-led innovation in advancing Ghana’s clean mobility transition.
In parallel, the BOOST Courses commenced in May 2024, offering a blended learning experience that combines online modules with in-class instruction and direct interaction with startups and industry leaders. The first course module focused on advanced battery technologies, including sustainable manufacturing, battery management systems, and lifecycle practices—laying the groundwork for hands-on engagement in the e-mobility sector.
EV Awareness Training – Preparing the Workforce
Ghana & Morocco | November 2024
In November 2024, the BOOST Project proudly launched its first cohort of interns across Ghana and Morocco, marking a significant milestone in its mission to foster green job creation in the e-mobility sector. A total of 87 interns began hands-on industry placements with leading electric mobility companies and technology firms.
In Ghana, 81 interns were placed with innovative companies including Nastech Power Solutions, SolarTaxi, and Zerosol Limited. Their roles span across technical and operational areas such as electric vehicle (EV) innovation, battery production, welding and fabrication, and machine operation.
EV Awareness Training – Preparing the Workforce
Before starting their six-month internships, all participants completed a 40-hour foundational training on Electric Vehicle Awareness. This training was delivered in partnership with academic experts from the Brew-Hammond Energy Center at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, equipping the interns with essential knowledge on EV systems, safety, and sustainability principles.
Simultaneously, in Morocco, six interns commenced their placements with LOGO, a partner in the mechanical and electromechanical sectors. Their assignments involve hands-on work in mechanical manufacturing, electromechanics of automated systems, and computer engineering—laying the groundwork for future engagement in Morocco’s growing e-mobility ecosystem.
This cohort represents the first generation of young professionals gaining practical skills and experience to contribute directly to Africa’s sustainable transport future.
